GAZA EVACUATION: JOURNALIST, CAMERAMAN & FAMILIES

NOTE: The Rafah Border Crossing has been closed since May of this year. We don't know when it will reopen, however we want to be prepared for all cases.

We urgently seek your assistance to help journalist Rakan, his dedicated cameraman Salah, and their families escape the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as reported by UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese.

Including himself, Rakan's family consists of seven members, while Salah's family comprises four. These brave individuals have tirelessly worked on the ground for media outlets such as SBS and The National News, risking their lives to report the truth amidst unfathomable pressures.

Fadwa, Salah's youngest, was born in late November of 2023. The world she opened her eyes to is the same world we've all been trying to look away from.

Press personnel in Gaza are facing unprecedented dangers, with journalists being specifically targeted in the violence. Rakan and Salah, along with their families, are among those directly affected, struggling to find safety amid the chaos.

At least 140 journalists have since been martyred in Gaza.

Unfortunately, the escalating conflict has made their situation increasingly perilous. They are now facing immense challenges in accessing safety. Any funds will contribute to their resettlement out of Gaza.

We are rallying support from the public to raise funds that will directly contribute to assisting Rakan, Salah, and their families in evacuating to safety. In addition to the crossing fees, they also urgently require support for food, shelter, and medical supplies.

Your generosity can make a life-saving difference for these courageous individuals and their loved ones. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring them one step closer to safety and enable them to continue their vital work.

Salah's first-born, Sama, has not even turned 2. She faces the risk of extreme starvation.
