Help Tyler Clayton and Family Through Tragedy

Hello, we are Tyler’s immediate family and we are asking for any help we can get to support and pray for Tyler as well as help with any of the hospital bills we are going to receive in the near future. Right now, Tyler is under the amazing care of the Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. On January 22, Tyler suffered a severe gunshot wound to his right frontal and temporal lobes in his brain and was in critical condition/ life support for two weeks. The person responsible is in custody. Immediately after the accident, Tyler was first brought to Ocala Regional Medical Center by ambulance and shortly after was transferred to the Shands Pediatric Emergency Trauma Bay where he was soon transferred again to the Operating Room. In the Operating Room, Tyler underwent neurosurgery to the right side of his brain. The doctors removed the bullet from his right frontal lobe and they also had to remove part of his skull in order to allow the brain to swell with enough room to where the pressure would remain low. Tyler was on life support so that his body could focus all of its attention on his brain healing. He also has bone fractures on his face and in his ear. After being in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital for a month, Tyler was finally moved to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital to continue his recovery. We had a slight hiccup when Tyler’s brain was retaining fluid that his body couldn’t drain into his body due to the injury. This in turn cause concerning swelling and a permanent shunt had to be placed in him in order to save his life. The surgery was done by the awesome Neuro-team at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville. Everything was successful and Tyler recovered from the surgery and was brought back to Brooks Rehab. Thanks to everyone, we just celebrated his 15th birthday 2 months later and Tyler is beginning to talk and gain his strength back. We ask for continued prayers and any help you can give our family to help lift the financial strains we will face shortly. Tyler is a 15 year old, smart, charming, and very loving son, brother, grandson, relative and friend to so many people.
