Help Tyson the German Shepherd Recover from a Life of Neglect

Just before Christmas, Tyson, a beautiful German Shepherd, was abandoned on the streets - left to fend for himself by the very people who should have cared for him. Tyson’s story is tragically all too common, and it begins with the greed and carelessness of backyard breeders.

Tyson was likely bred without any concern for his health or wellbeing. No health checks were done on his parents, no precautions were taken to prevent genetic issues - only profit was prioritised. And when Tyson began to show the inevitable signs of medical problems, his owner simply decided he was no longer worth the trouble.

Tyson’s Condition

Tyson is suffering from multiple medical issues that have gone untreated for too long. He has hip dysplasia, walks on his carpus (wrist) and hock (ankle), and has endured a deep, healed cut on his tail, as well as significant hair loss. He’s even unable to groom himself - something so simple and natural for most dogs .

His coat is badly matted, and with every movement, his skin is painfully pulled by the mats in his fur.

Today, thanks to Seana Canine Stylist, Tyson is getting a much-needed Spa experience to help him feel more comfortable. ✨ This grooming will be a huge relief for him, as the pain from his matted coat has only added to the suffering caused by his hips. We are incredibly grateful for Seana’s kindness in giving Tyson this special care.

Tyson will also be visiting Carrick On Shannon Vet Clinic today for his second medical opinion. From there, we’ll know the best route forward to ensure Tyson has a pain-free life for however much time he has left.
