Help Uchechi Overcome Medical and Educational Hurdles

My name is Uchechi Anyanwu, and I’m a data science major at Eastern Kentucky University. I’m proud to be an Honors student, a member of Kappa Delta Tau and the AFA Club, a CIEGE Student Worker, and an Academy Scholar. In winter 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in London and Dublin. Inspired by that experience, I worked hard to fund another study abroad trip to Florence, Italy, for summer 2024. Unfortunately, before the trip, I became severely ill and was hospitalized, which forced me to cancel my plans.

The program was non-refundable, leaving me responsible for paying back the full cost. On top of that, I now face significant medical bills from my hospital stay. Balancing these financial burdens has become overwhelming, and I’m at risk of not being able to register for the Spring 2025 semester. This could jeopardize my scholarships, my education, and the dreams I’ve worked so hard to achieve.
