Help Uggz Fight Cancer

Hello! We are Jackie and Uggz. Uggz has recently been diagnosed with cancer and we need your help to save her.

About us:

Jackie is a brown trans woman in her 30s and Uggz is a sweet pit mix in her 12s. Jackie found Uggz in a park when she was just 3 months old. Covered in mange and afraid of anyone who approached her, Uggz crawled right up to Jackie and laid down in her lap.

With no intention of keeping her, Jackie took her to the vet and provided foster care and medication while looking for her permanent home. It quickly became clear that Uggz had been abused and did not trust most people. She would bark at and be frightened of any potential adopters. No one would end up adopting Uggz. Thankfully, Jackie and Uggz had become best friends and were inseparable. Jackie quit her job to start a career that Uggz could be a part of. Jackie and Uggz have been operating their own dog walking business for 12 years now and Uggz has grown up into an amazing dog with so many other dog friends and has learned to trust people again.

She is truly living her best life with Jackie. Aside from being a business partner, navigator, and co-pilot; Uggz is Jackie’s entire world.

Recent events:

Last month, Uggz started having very loose/bloody stools and seemed to be dropping weight rapidly. The vet noticed a lump on her neck and recommended a biopsy. While waiting for the results, Uggz’s urine had started to show signs of blood. 3 weeks later, we received our diagnosis: B cell lymphoma. We were given antibiotics but the bloody urine did not improve, likely meaning that the cancer had spread to her kidneys. As of 2/13, we have had an ultrasound and x-rays and we are waiting to hear back from oncology where we are hopeful to pursue chemotherapy.

Costs:

We have racked up $3,146.92 in out of pocket expenses so far on tests, scans, and procedures. Additionally, chemotherapy treatments can range from $14,500 to $19,000. We have pet insurance, but very limited coverage. Treatments will need to be paid up front and we anticipate exceeding our annual limit very quickly. Jackie is running out of funds to pay for Uggz’s treatment.

If you have met or know Uggz, you know that she is the sweetest, best girl that deserves the best care in the world. Unfortunately, Jackie is struggling to financially provide that for her. We have set a goal to raise $7k to help Jackie and Uggz pay for medical expenses. We humbly ask for your donation to reach our goal. Any amount, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
