Care for Ukrainian Refugees and Families Back Home
Donation protected
Hey All - My children have scattered for Spring Break so I’m heading to Przemysl on the Poland/Ukrainian border to shuttle refugees and help support the small and overwhelmed local organizations currently operating there. Unlike Moldova where refugee relief agencies already had a presence, few of the big NGOs are at the Polish border and so much of the humanitarian response has been ad hoc, led by local residents and supported by a handful of organizations including World Central Kitchen, the Polish Red Cross and People in Need. But the flood of refugees continues and there is a growing need for support to bridge the gap until the big NGOs can establish themselves there. I will be part of a loosely organized group that is coordinating with those currently operating on the ground. Per their requests, I plan to rent as large an SUV or van as I can find/afford to transport people and/or supplies as needed. It seems silly for me to go all the way there and not ask people if they’d like to help. If you do I promise to put any/all money to the best use to support local people and organizations working with the refugees and/or refugees themselves. I know it’s a bit nuts but it seems more useful than cleaning out my closets for the week which was my original plan.
Thanks for anything you can give.
