Help Ukrainians Restore Mental Health

Millions of Ukrainian have been affected by the full-scale war started by Russia. This includes both soldiers fighting on the frontline and civilians targeted by Russian missiles and artillery. A local Ukrainian charity, Medical Innovations, is collecting funds for the purchase of a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation device (TMS) for depression treatment at the National Rehabilitation Center Unbroken in Lviv.
The National Rehabilitation Center Unbroken is a safe haven for more than 7,000 patients including 250 children with mine explosive injuries, burns, amputations and, consequently, psychological trauma. Their specialists provide the full spectrum of treatment and rehabilitation services free of charge - surgery, orthopedics, prosthetics, physical rehabilitation and counselling - everything within ONE center. Out of 7 000 patients the center received, 35% required depression and/or PTSD treatment and had indications for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Right now hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians suffer from depression caused by war trauma, phantom pain from amputations, and panic attacks. 100% of amputees need TMS therapy to ease phantom pain. Today, more than 5,000 Ukrainians lost one or more limbs as a result of the war.
TMS is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. It is painless and well-tolerated. TMS can save lives when it brings improvements to depression symptoms or causes depression to go into remission entirely.
Our goal is to fundraise 36,000 USD to buy one such device, which will treat approximately 15,000 patients every year! Any donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal and to helping thousands of Ukrainian affected by the war.
