Help Ukrainian Refugees Living in Midcoast Maine

My name is Nancy, and I am hosting a fundraiser for Daria and her 2 sons - refugees from the war in Ukraine.

When war broke out in Ukraine, Daria and her boys fled to Poland along with millions of Ukrainian refugees. Due to Ukrainian military conscription mandates, her husband remained in Ukraine.

Daria and her husband are friends with my daughter and her Ukrainian husband. When Daria's husband contacted them, they immediately invited Daria and the boys to come to in their home.

Following Daria's arrival in the US, their home near Bucha was severely damaged during a rocket attack. Unfortunately, they do not know when or if their home can be repaired. Daria is apprehensive about when she and the boys can return to Ukraine and be reunited with her husband.

 

Daria has applied for an immigrant work visa. While she waits for her work permit, the community has been welcoming and helpful with food and transportation. One son, who is 8, is attending the local elementary school. Going forward, Daria and the boys will need funding for everyday living expenses, medical care, transportation and daycare for her younger son.  Daria plans to secure employment and move to an apartment while she awaits word from her husband that she and her boys can safely return to Ukraine.
