On a tragic day, May 4th, 2024, Rayvon Matthew Lewis was discovered lifeless on the cold concrete of 88th Washington St. Rushed to North Suburban Hospital, hope dwindled as he was pronounced brain dead. Two agonizing days later, on May 6th, 2024, the conclusive brain tests delivered the crushing blow, sealing his fate in a devastating confirmation. Rayvon slipped away, succumbing to severe brain damage from multiple fatal injuries to the back of his head that left him with no chance of survival. Initial reports hinted that Rayvon might have fallen from a pick-up truck, but his injuries did not align with such an incident. With no typical signs of such an accident, his family grew worried when the case was handed over to a traffic officer who went on vacation within days of getting the case. As days passed without progress, the family's concerns mounted. Over a month had passed since his tragic death, his relatives came together voicing their concerns about the nature of Rayvon’s death. Then an email was sent to the Thornton Police Department outlining all the issues and concerns the family had discovered, prompting the transfer of the case to the Detective Division. Despite this shift, doubts lingered about the department's ability to handle the case effectively due to the negligence that took place since the start of the investigation. Unanswered questions and the lack of investigation led to more concerns. The questions surrounding his suspicious death led the family to believe he was murdered.
On May 4th, 2024, Rayvon was with his girlfriend all day helping her move into a new place. Suspicions arose regarding his girlfriend's silence by not coming forward to give the detectives a statement, adding another layer of complexity to the investigation. The last person we know Rayvon was with before he was found brain dead in the street was his girlfriend, less than 2 hours prior to the tragic incident. Immediate questioning of the girlfriend should have taken place, as there are many crucial aspects in the case that require attention and further investigation. Rayvon's untimely death has left his mother reeling, both emotionally and financially. A single parent since the passing of Rayvon's father in 2019 from cancer, she now struggles to cope with the loss of her son.
Rayvon is remembered as a vibrant, talented young man. Rayvon's potential was limitless. He loved to dance, make music, and create content on social media platforms. He graduated high school with aspirations of achieving greatness in his future endeavors. Even in the midst of Rayvan's tragic death, he left a lasting legacy by becoming an organ donor providing hope and new life to those in need. The fact that he was able to give to others, even in his final moments, is a true testament to the kind-hearted and compassionate person he was. His generosity and spirit of giving will forever be remembered and cherished by those whose lives he touched.
