Help Underserved Homeowners Stay Afloat
Tax deductible
HCA is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to build more access to credit for America’s underserved communities. We are industry experts in community development, housing counseling, and mortgage lending whose shared passions deliver TA for lenders, innovative downpayment and closing cost product solutions, and certification & supports for lenders with Special Purpose Credit Programs.
Underserved populations that are assisted with DPA, CRA, SPCP, and other portfolio program solutions, also have less savings and credit options during their first 5 years of homeownership, making them vulnerable to delinquency or default due life events. The Federal Reserve studied American households and found that even a fairly minor emergency expense under $1,000 can send the average homeowner into more debt or delinquency.
Our Solution: Rainy Day Fund
Funds to help borrowers get through life’s rainy days and avoid being late on their mortgage.
Benefitting borrowers will be invited through lender partners or HCA and may apply for assistance up to $4,500 for qualifying hardships that include:
- medical events (borrower or dependents)
- death (of a borrower)
- loss of job or reduction of income
- loss of transportation/ability to get to work
Beneficiaries must stay current on their mortgage and complete a housing counseling session with one of HCA's partner HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agencies.
