Help Underserved Youth Attend Skate Wild in Rocco's Memory

In honor of our dear, departed friend Rocco, the Rocco Mastrantoni IV Memorial Scholarship Fund is excited to invite you to help send youth skateboarders from disadvantaged, urban backgrounds to remote wilderness education camp. Skateboarding + Nature + Helping Youth? It’s hard to think of a cause that embodies Rocco’s spirit more than that.

In addition to our original scholarship fund—which is now fully funded to offer college scholarships to Lake George High School Graduates for the next five years—this new award will provide an annual scholarship awarded to underserved youth nationwide each summer to attend a unique camp experience called Skate Wild. The Skate Wild 501(C)3 non-profit organization, with whom we have officially partnered to create this award, takes young skateboarders from underserved communities across the U.S. on guided and mentored wilderness-education excursions, where attendees learn survival skills, respect for nature, and experience the personal growth that accompanies learning to feel comfortable and confident in wild places.

We've already selected one recipient whom your donation will support—14-year-old Moises, from the farming town of San Juan Capistrano, California, who is looking forward to all the personal growth that can happen in the wilderness. Moises is just the kind of kid that Rocco would've nurtured when Rocco was alive! And maybe taught a move or two on the rocks or the mini-ramp....

Your donation will allow us to fund Moises's attendance at Skate Wild, as well as funding a subsequent individual each year following, enabling us to create an ongoing, annual award given to a boy or girl from a disadvantaged background.

Know a young skater whom you think would benefit from such an opportunity? You can nominate a youth (under 18) by sending us their name along with your donation! When Rocco was a teen, he no doubt would've loved to have had the opportunity to attend a camp like Skate Wild.
