Help Unemployed Restaurant Workers
My name is Greg Federman, owner of Xetava Gardens.
I have set up this fundraiser to help unemployed restaurant workers in the Washington County area, both our own employees and those of
other restaurants.
The funds we raise will be used to give out food, supplies and/or gift cards to those unemployed as a result of COVID-19.
In cases where we do distributions and there are leftover perishables, they will be given to Switchpoint, the local food pantry, and
to the Shivwits Indian Reservation, located near us.
I will personally be withdrawing the money to purchase food, supplies, and gift cards.
So far, we have given out over $10,000 in food and supplies.
Our plan for the remaining distribution is to send Smith's grocery store e-gift cards to those in need via the funds we raise here. This is the safest way to get help without exposing people to unnecessary human contact, and it will help them save gas money, and purchase the things they need, which will differ depending on each recipient. Or we might do a restaurant workers day at Switchpoint. I just spoke with them and they have the
infrastructure and staff to coordinate dispersement as per our instructions. I'll keep you updated over the next few days as we make our decision.
There are now thousands of displaced restaurant
workers in Southern Utah due to the preventative
measures put in place to help slow the spread of
Coronavirus.
Because Xetava cannot survive on take out orders only, we have decided to close so that our staff can receive
unemployment until this passes and we can reopen.
In the meantime, we are turning Xetava into a relief
center to help displaced restaurant workers of
Southern Utah get food and supplies.
We are asking our vendors to donate or sell to us at
heavily discounted prices anything they can, and your donations
will go towards those purchases.
If you are fortunate enough to help, please donate whatever you can, it will be greatly appreciated by more
people than you can possibly know.
