Help Union Island Families Recover from Beryl
Donation protected
Hello Family & Friends,
Due to a lack of national media coverage, I am not sure how many of you are aware of the devastation that hit St. Vincent and The Grenadine on Monday, July 1st, 2024, as a result of Hurricane Beryl. One of the islands that was hit very hard is Union Island, home of my ancestors (my father, aunts, and uncles). I just spent two weeks there in May restoring my father's home which has now been impacted by the hurricane. The island is 90% destroyed. All residents are currently experiencing homelessness at this time.
I am sincerely asking for your prayers, support, and monetary donations. The island is in desperate need of as much assistance as can be given. No amount is too small or too large. The goal is to raise $50,000.00 to start assisting family members of Union Island with rebuilding and stabilizing their lives. This goal is large and might seem unattainable, but if we can encourage 500 people to donate $100.00 the goal will be reached. Our people are devastated, homeless, and in a state of despair. I ask that everyone share this post so we can reach as many people in our community as possible. If we unite, we can accomplish a lot and ease the pain and suffering of many.
For transparency, my name is Louisa Seymour, daughter of Issac Daniels, who was raised in Ashton, Union Island. One of the fond memories I have of my father is him bring joy to the community during Christmas, lighting up his home with Christmas lights, reindeers, and dancing Santa providing the children with fresh popcorn, as they stood around singing Carols and enjoying the Christmas lights.
I want to make sure it is understood all funds will be used to assist families including mines with a kick start to stabilize themselves with material to replace roofs, windows, and doors that have been destroyed. We are trying to provide some families with covering from the elements.
