Help Uplift Immigrant and Refugee Women in A2!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Aashna Nadarajah, and I am a junior at Huron High School. As the daughter of Sri Lankan immigrants, I’ve always been inspired by the dedication and perseverance of the immigrants and refugees I’ve been lucky enough to know. Passionate about giving back to my refugee community, I am working on a project called Second Helpings, designed to support refugee and immigrant women in the Ann Arbor community by selling Ann Arbor customers home cooked, authentic, ethnic meals at multiple venues, including the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. Through Second Helpings, immigrant and refugee women in the Ann Arbor community can generate income through 100% of the sales they make and connect with established community members.
So what can you do? A spot at the farmers market costs $500, and I need to fundraise this cost to get Second Helpings off the ground and home cooks in the community. Another $600 is needed to help pay for promotional materials and supplies for home cooks. $100 will be allotted to other expenses such as transportation for home cooks. Any funds raised in excess of the projected amount will be donated to local refugee aid charities.
Second Helpings is a project with the goal of spreading cultural understanding within the community through delicious food while uplifting the immigrant and refugee women of Ann Arbor. I currently have two home cooks planning to work with Second Helpings and am working on launching Second Helpings at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market in early July. As a high school junior, it's been challenging to kickstart this project by myself, but your help can put Second Helpings into full gear!
Thanks so much!
