URBAN TXT: Teens Exploring Technology (TXT) Needs Your Help!
We are leading a trip to El Salvador on November 8th to November 19th, 2021 to empower young Salvadoran students to become Tech entrepreneurs in their communities. Our team will be traveling to El Salvador with the goals of learning how Bitcoin is impacting the community and supporting underserved communities by exposing them to technology concepts such as building websites using HTML, CSS, & Javascript. We will also expose the youth to leadership roles and working in teams in order to develop a website that is aimed to solve an issue ailing their communities.
Our goal of $5,000 is aimed to help us provide the youth in El Salvador the necessary equipment for the Monday through Friday coding sessions. Students will need computers with access to the internet in order to learn to code via our Platform, Hustle N’ Code. The Hustle N’ Code platform will be the main editor used for HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding, our in-house platform allows students to build websites and share them with other members of the coding community. In order for this to be possible, your donation will also help us have High speed wireless internet access for all students to use during the event period. Your donation will help us find a location in El Salvador for this event to be held and provide students with the proper collaborative innovative environment. Within your donation, you will also be sponsoring a student’s lunch for the day. Please help us reach our goal in order for us to help Salvadoran Youth be leaders of tomorrow.
TXT is a James Irvine and Google award-winning non- profit organization founded in 2009. As an organization our core mission is to empower inner city youth to become technology leaders and entrepreneurs. To date we have been successful in developing programs and initiatives that have impacted over 1,000 youth ages 12-21 and have achieved the following outcomes:
- 95% of youth who have completed our summer programs are in 4 year-universities
- 90% retention in our programs ranging from 4 weeks to 8 weeks long
- Partnerships with tech companies such as Facebook, Snapchat, & Microsoft
- In 2016, President Obama invited TXT to present at the White House and recognized TXT as an innovative initiative.
