Help us beat breast cancer with Shanice

This is our Shanice, Shan, neicey, shanisshhhh!

Daughter, sister, auntie, granddaughter, niece, partner, dog mummy to Dallas and best friend to so many.

You may have met Shanice through many paths in life, some of you may know her as your dental nurse, she has spent all her life caring for patients and now it’s our time to care for her. If you have been lucky enough to know her, you will all know what an amazing person she is.

Shanice is so kind and caring and looks at life through the most positive eyes, even when times are hard. Shanice will find the good in everyone and everything! What a quality to have !!

Unfortunately, life has not been so kind for Shanice, at such a young age of 32, In July 2023 Shanice was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer that had metastasised to her lymph nodes.

Our worlds got turned upside down but In typical Shanice style she comforted every one with a smile on her face telling them she'll be ok, she has shown so much strength and bravery.

Shanice started her chemotherapy treatment and lost her hair, this is when Karen, Winnie, Whitney and Britney came along and became her new best friends.... her wigs, yes, they were named,

Shanice is the only person we know who can wear a £3 wig from SHIEN and look amazing in it!

The journey…

It all started in Feb 2023 with joint pain,swollen knees, hands and feet (suspected rheumatoid arthritis). Then in August Shanice found a lump in her armpit, fast forward multiple A&E trips, tests and IV chemotherapy, In February of this year shanice underwent a lumpectomy, mastectomy and reconstruction, after recovering she began tablet chemotherapy and was due to end it off with a blast of radiation and close the book on cancer.

Unfortunately Shanice found some lumps and must now begin her fight again, Shanice is due to start 5 days radiation treatment at Brighton hospital on the 7th of October to try and control the tumours in her lymph nodes and is currently awaiting biopsy and all scan results one being a possible tumour on her liver .

The consultants will meet and come to a decision on her treatment moving forward which we believe will be full body chemotherapy. It has been discussed that Shanice may benefit from immunotherapy however the NHS may not cover this.

Treatment is and has been a long road for Shanice and although it won't cover all costs to come, we would love to help jump start savings for anything that will help, alternative therapies, holistic, western medicine etc, also to make life a little easier and possibly help with some little luxuries along the way to give Shanice some rest bite.

So, this is the plan..

Currently there is a lot of uncertainty and we are not sure what the future holds at the moment but what we do know is there will be lots of fun, laughs and I'm sure a few tears along the way, we plan to do lots of fundraising events and can't wait to make so many memories. We would like to invite you all to ride this journey with us, to raise as much money as we possibly can!

As you can imagine the last thing Shanice wants is for anyone to feel obliged to give money, her main priority is to raise awareness on how important it is that no matter what age if something doesn’t feel or look right to get it checked straight away!!
