HELP US BEAT THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND OPEN!!!!

Donation protected
Casa La Golondrina Cafe was the first Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, originally La Mision opened in the current site of LA’s City Hall in 1924. Consuelo Castillo de Bonzo, an immigrant from Aguas Calientes, Mexico, was invited to relocate to Olvera Street in the Pelaconi House, built circa 1855-57. Casa La Golondrina Cafe opened its doors on April 30, 1930, for the opening night party of Olvera Street; La Golondrina has served traditional Mexican food to the community ever since.

Unfortunately, La Golondrina, like many restaurants, was closed during Covid-19. While attempting to reopen, a plumbing issue was discovered inside and outside of the 100-year-old historic building owned by the City of Los Angles. The City of Los Angeles have contradicted our lease contract and placed the cost of repair onto us, the tenant, to complete an infrastructural capital improvement. We have filed a lawsuit against the city.

Our goal is to raise money to help with costs for reopening.

We are thankful for the generations of customers we have had over the years. We thank you for any contribution and encourage you to spread our message any way possible, via word of mouth, social media or any other method. Once again, thank you in advance.
