Let's Bridge Science & Spirituality
Donation protected
Let's bridge science & spirituality -- you can help! We are two neuroscientists who want to encourage curiosity and exploration of all aspects of the human experience, even those we cannot currently fully explain with science.
Key Points:
We want to help propel the paradigm shift in science by organizing a Neuroscience & Spirituality Social at the largest annual neuroscience conference.
There are many more (neuro)scientists interested in the bigger questions and we'd like to connect with them.
Backstory: In 2022, at the largest neuroscience conference (Society for Neuroscience) we organized a Neuroscience & Spirituality Social and were delightedly surprised when 50+ scientists showed up, engaging enthusiastically about wide-ranging topics, such as consciousness, psychedelics, anomalous experiences, and spirituality -- topics that are usually too taboo to discuss openly with our colleagues. In 2023, we organized a symposium on alternative models of consciousness at the same conference (see video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8geWn2mxd0&t=3s).
We've sparked so much interest and would love to keep it going so that we can finally explain the unexplainable. Please consider donating so we can open more scientists' minds! =)

DATE: Saturday, October 5th
TIME: 7:00am - 10:30am
LOCATION: Society for Neuroscience (SfN), Chicago
Marriott Marquis Chicago, 2121 South Prairie Avenue
Great Lakes Ballroom E
EVENT TITLE: Neuroscience & Spirituality Social
This informal gathering is for anyone who has ever had an experience -- whether they classify it as 'spiritual' or not -- that they cannot explain with our current understanding of science. Our scientific community tends to dismiss these events as anomalies, declare them as 'not real', or ignore them altogether, in spite of the fact that many scientists have experienced these phenomena. Join a growing group of curious scientists who are unafraid to ask difficult questions about the nature of our reality that includes the intersection of science and spirituality. We will facilitate a conversation about science and spirituality that encourages sharing ideas, research, and personal experiences. All are welcome.
This event is free and open to the public.
Why a GoFundMe? Organizing these events is very expensive!

More about us: We are Mona Sobhani, PhD and Allison Paradise, two neuroscientists who founded a collective for scientists interested in questions about the nature of our reality and consciousness. We want to encourage curiosity and exploration of all aspects of the human experience, even those we cannot currently fully explain with science (like mystical experiences, near-death experiences, etc). By sharing our own stories in multiple ways (e.g. through interviews, one of us wrote a book, events, etc), we hope to inspire other scientists to do the same.
