Help Us Bring Maridel Home

With deep sadness, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved friend, Maridel De Ocampo, also known as Madel. She tragically lost her life in a devastating car accident in Maffra-Stratford Road while on her way to work at 12:20 pm yesterday (February 20,2025). Despite the heroic efforts of the rescue team, who arrived by helicopter and fought to save her, Madel did not survive.

Madel came to Australia with hopes of building a better future not just for herself, but most of all for her daughter. After losing her husband, she made the difficult decision to leave home and work in Australia to provide a better life for her child. She arrived on a student visa and had recently become a sponsored worker in regional Australia, working as a dairy farmer in Maffra. She was determined to bring her daughter here one day, doing whatever it took to make that dream a reality. But tragically, that dream was taken away far too soon.

Her 9-year-old daughter, who had been waiting for her to return, is now left without a mother. Madel was her only source of love, guidance, and support, she is both a mother and a father to her. Now, she is left alone, having lost the one person who worked so hard to give her a better future.

Madel has no family here in Australia. Our deepest wish is to bring her home to the Philippines so she can be laid to rest surrounded by her loved ones. We are reaching out with heavy hearts, asking for your kindness and generosity. Any support, big or small, will help give Madel the farewell she deserves and provide some comfort to the little girl she leaves behind.
