Help us Bring Ousman to Canada!

Hello everyone! I am raising funds for my friend Ousman Bojang. He is 22 years old and lives with with his Mom and his 4 younger siblings in a country called The Gambia, in West Africa. Ousman added me as a friend on Instagram last August and I accepted his friends request. I began conversations with him and asked him about his situation. He said he and his family struggle for food and asked me to help. I cautiously found a way to purchase him food at an online store called Terangas. I purchased $50 worth of food through the Terangas app and he was able to pick it up on his end. He sent me photos of the store and of the food that he received. He told me how grateful they were for the food. I did this for a little while and got to know Ousman with daily text messages and Face Time calls. Over the last 11 months of interactions, I realized what a polite, respectful and kind young man he is. He helps his mom with daily routine and helps take care of his 4 younger siblings as none of them can go school. I have met his mom Ramu and 2 of his siblings Sukia and Mariama on Face Time calls. They are a great family, but they are in a very difficult situation. The Gambia is one of the poorest countries in the world, with a tiny land mass and a huge population of 2.9 million! The Gambia is the smallest country in mainland Africa. Only 50km wide and 320km long. That’s only about 1/3 the size of Vancouver Island. They do have a small place but they live with no running water and no electricity. But food is their number one need! We’ve gotten to know them, and I’ve been helping them with food over the past 11 months. But now we want to help Ousman and his family more! We are going to bring Ousman to live with with us! He will live with myself, my wife and my 2 children. We are writing  him a official “letter of invitation” that will allow him to come to Canada on a visitors visa for 6 months. We will invite him into our home and take care of him while he is here. This family is in a dire situation and they desperately need our help. And we can change that! If all my friends, family and neighbours contribute to this, even if it’s a very small amount, we can change their lives forever! This will monumentally change things for this family if we all chip in and get him here. My recent check on flights from The Gambia to Vancouver was $2400 round trip. And I was quoted $620 to get him travellers insurance while he’s here to keep him healthy during his stay. He also will need a bit of money while he’s on his 33hr flight, as well as basic necessities when he arrives. Please help us help Ousman! If you can donate any amount possible, even if it is only a very small amount, it will all add up to reaching our goal. It is on our hearts to help this family. We just need help get him here and we’ll take care of him for the duration of his time with us. Thank you!
