FUNDRAISING OBJECTIVE
City of Asylum/Detroit invites you to help bring over our first resident, who will arrive in early 2021. Thanks to our donors, we’ve raised enough to buy their plane ticket over! Now, we are raising funds to support their expedited visa, approx. $2,000.

While we need to withhold additional information until they arrive to ensure their safety, we have concluded over multiple discussions and a thorough review of their work that they will profoundly enrich Detroit’s intellectual and creative life.

WHO WE ARE
City of Asylum provides sanctuary to endangered writers and artists, and anchors neighborhood economic development by transforming blighted properties into homes for our programs. We envision a neighborhood where global and local concerns intersect, and where multiple communities are empowered through mutual support. 

DEADLINE
We ask that donations be made by GIVING TUESDAY — DECEMBER 1, 2020.

$10 — LAYOVER BUDDY — Take our resident out for coffee between flights
$25 — NOVELISTA — Gift our resident some guilty airport reads along the way
$75 — DUTY FREEDOM FIGHTER — Pyramids of Toblerone and an oversized bottle of 1800 are two essential elements of any successful transition to the US during the 2020 election
$150 — POLE VAULTER — Over the walls of bureaucratic barbed wire
$250 — STAMPED PASSPORTER — You got us across the finish line!!!!!
