Helping the kids of Dhaka achieve a better future
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kaz.... I am a first-generation Brit born Bengali, and along with my maternal cousins from continents on both sides, we would like to open a number of clinics offering poverty stricken family from rural villages with medical care, adult & childrens education and general support.
Much of this will be overseen by a family member, Asif who is located in Dhaka Bangladesh.
Our ancestral heritage is very diverse, and we are very fortunate to come from a family who have been generous and community-driven since the days of the Raj.
Our ancestral heritage is very diverse, and we are very fortunate to come from a family who have been generous and community-driven since the days of the Raj.
Our great great great grandfather Daulat Bephari was a 'Nawab' (Mayor) of a village on the outskirts of Dhaka city in (what was then) East Pakistan back in 1906.
His community spirit and generosity were taught to his children and so forth until such time that things became our maternal grandfather's responsibility, Adbul Matin.
Like his predecessors, he would pass small plots of land to those in need, lowered rent to the bare minimum, and donate land for the local mosque to be built on, amongst many of his good deeds.
Sadly our grandfather passed away in 1986, after which point my grandmother (late) Saleha Begum, tried to continue his legacy however due to rising inflation and living costs, she found it very difficult to help those in need.
Thanks to the generosity of many people across 2 continents, we have managed to continue helping people with day to day needs; medical help, palliative care, educational needs, build orphanages to help those who have been left to fend for themselves, and of course general expenses such as food costs.
On a recent visit, I was sad to hear that COVID took many people lives, and had left many families vulnerable.
With the help of a few friends and family, we have managed to help a large number of families with housing needs, basic welfare and medical needs and general food costs.
This however is not a temporary project, and whilst £5,000 is a small fortune, it did not touch the surface of what is a huge mountain of social welfare, educational and health issues that we have yet to climb.
I have taken the decision to go part time with my employment, and along with my younger cousin, decided to help as many individual lives and families within this village and others nearby.
We have set up the Abdul Matin & Saleha Begum Welfare Foundation (AMSBWF), please see web address below

- Our initial plan was to acquire a plot of land in the middle of the village - location secured. With the location now secured, we are proceeding with legals and hope to finalise the purchase before the end of summer
2 STOREY BUILDING WITH FOOTINGS, UTILITIES, POWER BACK UP & FINISHING
- For this, we will be raising funds of £50000, and will be looking at a target time of 9 months, January 2023
- PHASE TWO fundraising will begin later in the year, this will be for all equipment, personnel, training and medical supplies
- On the ground floor we aim to offer the following services; basic medical care, nutritional advice, womens health/pre-natal/post-natal care, and general well deing
- On the first floor we aim to have a small living quarter for the on-site nurse, a small class room to help with basic educational needs and a small office for those who need assistance with finances, disputes, wills etc
The plot of land will be acquired by myself, however the cost of construction, finishing and equipment is yet to be secured or raised.
This is where the residents of the Madhupur village and others like it need you and your help......
We are in the early stages of acquiring the plot of land, however we have secured it, and will keep everyone up to date via our website amsbwelfarefoundation.org (going live soon)
