Help Us Build A Butterfly Enclosure In Trinidad ❤️

Donation protected
Hello everyone! Speaking on behalf of the Widener University Education Program, My name is Leah DiGiandomenico. I am a current Junior, studying Early Education and Special Education. I am a student of Dr. Nadine McHenry, and also a classmate of both Isis Williams and Asha Arthur-Gant. This March, we were given the incredible opportunity to travel to Trinidad and Tobago as part of a service learning course. In Trinidad, we were able to teach children at the Brazil RC Primary school. With these wonderful students, we focused on the topics of germination, pollination, farming, and plant reproduction. We focused on pollination and how important this is for the environment.

With Brazil Secondary students and faculty, we planned a butterfly enclosure that has been established in their schoolyard and will be replicated at the Brazil RC Primary School. This partnership with the secondary school ensures the sustainability of our program on pollinators.

This was such an amazing opportunity for all of the students to use their creativity and gain new knowledge about butterflies, a major pollinator in Trinidad and Tobago. As university students who are driven to provide opportunities for these children, we are grateful for any donation you can afford to purchase the materials for continued development of a butterfly garden where children ranging from both primary and secondary schools, can continue to grow and develop their knowledge about the environment and the importance of pollinators in plant reproduction.

The Brazil RC Secondary school students who are involved with the creation of the butterfly enclosure are also a part of the GLOBE Program, which focuses on the investigation and study of Earth Study Science through research projects. These students will develop authentic experiences for their Primary School partners while also aiming to provide important information to local farmers about the importance of maintaining species as pollinator plants alongside their crops.

Please consider a donation to this worthy cause. Our aim is $600.00 to cover the costs of materials for the development of the pollinator gardens at Brazil Secondary School and Brazil RC Primary school!
