Help us Build a Model of Juno Beach to commemorate D-Day 80

Who We Are: The Saskatoon Museum of Military Artifacts is a hidden gem in Saskatoon, Canada. We are a volunteer-led, registered charity devoted to preserving the memory and stories of Canadians who served in the armed forces. Please help us honour the brave soldiers who fought in the Juno Beach Landings and the historic battle for Canada House on D-Day.

Project Overview: The museum's youth volunteer team plan to embark on a mission to create an EPIC model to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Spanning over 24 feet in length the model will form the centrepiece exhibit to the WW2 section of our museum. The display will recreate the intense fighting that took place after the landing crafts departed, shedding light on a crucial aspect often overlooked in historical narratives. Our model will vividly depict the seafronts of the three towns seized during the operation: Saint Aubin, Bernieres Sur Mer, and Courseulles Sur Mer.

Why It Matters: This project holds profound significance in preserving the memory of those who sacrificed everything for freedom. By recreating the battlefield with intricate scale models and lifelike scenery, we aim to provide visitors with a clear understanding of the challenges faced by Allied forces on D-Day. In addition to preserving memories, this exhibit will serve as a powerful educational and community-building resource that will leave a lasting impact on our local community for generations to come.

Our Youth Team's Expertise: Our dedicated youth volunteers, all have prior experience in model building, having already completed notable projects such as a recreation of the Pimple at Vimy Ridge and No-Man's-Land. Their passion for history and attention to detail have consistently enriched our museum's exhibitions, and enhanced visitor's experiences.
