HELP US BUILD A RANCH FOR PABLO ROJAS

Help us build a Ranch for Pablo Rojas, an indigenous artisan of traditional Boruca masks.

My name is Djamila, I have been living in Costa Rica for 19 years now, in the last two years I have spent a lot of time in the southern part of this beautiful country, here in the south are the Boruca indigenous lands, within this community live some of the oldest artisans of this culture. Pablo Rojas is one of these amazing artisans, Don Pablo works masks to be able to pay for the studies of his 8 children. He also teaches volunteer to other young people in the community, so that the culture can live on in the next generations and other families can work creating masks and be able to earn money through those sales.

I know don Pablo thanks to another artisan in the community, don José, whom I contacted on social media to buy a mask and talking to me about his project to raise funds for the Christmas party of the children of the community. We became good friends and have started working together on some mask painting workshops for children.

My friends and family from Jungle mat (martial arts academy) and Flo (retreat center), have come together to create a plan to raise funds. We want to be able to make a ranch so that Pablo and José can have a good place to work and do workshops for the children of the community, in addition to being able to have a pleasant space to be able to receive tourists to meet and learn about their culture.

The racho project has a cost of $4,000, which will cover the costs of materials, labor, workbenches and tools.

I want to help these artisans maintain a culture full of history and colors, I share the love they feel for their lands and the richness they have in them. Costa Rica makes me sigh and I want to be able to give back a little of what it has given me.
