Build multi-use cricket nets in Torquay North!
Donation protected
Surfcoast Cricket Club, in the BPCA (Bellarine Peninsular Cricket League) located on Merrijig Drive in Torquay North, are excitingly seeking to build their first (open to the public) multi-use net facility at Banyul Warri Fields.
The club does not currently have any net facility staggeringly, since its birth in 2018. An extremely rare case for a cricket club with 50 registered players, supported by over 20 local sponsors, in a growth area.
The club has rich ambitions and plans to field several female and junior sides on the back of changing colours to align with the Surfcoast Suns Football & Netball Club, who have seen amazing success in recent times, soon building to 20 + 20 sides in football and netball by season 2025 (with seniors to commence).
The club currently trains on the middle pitches of Polwarth and Grenville ovals (wheeling out a steel fabricated net) alongside, renting indoor training space when financially able, alongside travelling to Mt. Duneed where facilities are temporarily loaned when possible.
Surfcoast Shire funding has not yet been allocated to meet the needs of the multi-use facility project, that have been estimated at in excess of $600,000 inclusive of contingencies. Build requirements of the facility have been tightly assigned by the Surfcoast Shire to offer the best facilities available to the community, which understandably has unfortunately made this a difficult feet amidst the current economic climate.
Surfcoast Cricket Club are seeking donations to allow for the project to be considered through gaining considerable leverage funding, to then be supported alongside State Government & Cricket Victoria sports infrastructure funds.
