Help us build libraries in Kenya!

Hi, my name is Dr. Brandon Scheer, the owner and founder of Shine Orthodontics. 10 years ago, while still a dental student, my dental school partnered with the dental school at Moi University, in Eldoret, Kenya, and our team of dental students from both the United States and from Kenya worked together to provide dental care for the homeless children of Eldoret. During my time there, I fell in love with the country and the people. Fast-forward 10 years, I was approached by the father of one of my orthodontic patients about making a donation. That man, Mr. Robert Mwangi, is on a mission to build a school library for his home village in Niyeri.

This mission resonated with me, and I wanted absolutely wanted to be a part of it. Initially, I funded a campaign to provide books, library shelving, and HR training to serve approximately 200 children at the Ihwa primary school in Niyeri. But we can do so, so much more!

By opening this campaign to patients, friends, family, and a large network of other orthodontists and dentists, I want to raise $25,000. $1 USD goes a long way over there, much farther than here in the US. Our plan is to enhance my initial investment by incorporating a digital component to the library which will include storybooks, laptops/tables pre-installed with educational content, printer, smart board, and projector. We will turn the library at Ihwa primary school into a model school library in the area. And, any additional funds leftover will be used to start a similar project for neighboring villages.
