Help Us build Olivia’s Dream Sensory space
Hi this is 12 yrold Olivia, a bright happy soul who struggles with so much. Liv is moderately intellectually disabled, has ADHD, severe insomnia, Sensory processing disorder and is predominantly non verbal. Her everyday is a struggle we can’t even imagine ourselves.
Olivia was born with a rare genetic Condition known as Phelan-McDermid Syndrome .
caused by a deletion of the terminal end of the long arm of chromosome 22 in the 22q13 region, including the SHANK3 gene.
there are only 2600 reported cases of the syndrome worldwide.
As she grows her struggles in life grow with the body of a 12 yrold and the mind of a preschooler.
We would very much like to give Liv the sensory play and calming space that she needs.
We have not been one of the The lucky ones in the NDIS scheme unable to obtain allied health until this year ( thanks to insane waiting lists) and funded only for reports and a few therapy sessions. we have funded a considerable amount from our own savings to give Liv the help and support she needs. This year we put in for a new plan but with asking for a large funding increase just for supports and therapy we were not confident in adding therapy equipment too.
So this is were you guys can help. All money raised will go towards buying specialised sensory equipment for a calming space and a playground with monkey bars at her request.
