Hi there. Ari Patterson here. BG Patterson and I purchased Farms Reach Cafe on May 1, 2014 - almost 10 years ago. We poured our hearts and souls into making Farms Reach a community meeting place. Most weeks we each worked 60-100 hours. We were so successful we were able to pay off the purchase loan of $400,000 in just 3 ½ years.
Being in business has been taxing and a labor of love. We never did strike it rich, however we worked hard every single day. In 2021 we thought we had a chance to sell the business and took other employment to financially make ends meet. Our landlord placed the building/lot on the market and unfortunately was not willing to enter into a lease. No lease = no business. When we re-aquired the business after the failed sale, we threw everything we had financially to fixing the place up and closed for a few months of remodel in 2022. We then reopened in October of that year with a new potential buyer that was willing to work with the landlord. Well, I guess you can imagine how this story ends... no lease = no business. Our last day being open for business will be February 29th, 2024.
We have managed to keep the doors open through many many trials however the time has come that it is no longer deasible to remain in business and in fact are over $50,000 in debt from trying to save our efforts and save the Cafe. We can no longer afford to continue facing more debt and are asking the community to help us with this cost as we personally don't have remotely enough to cover a debt like this.
We are so sad for the community and our staff, some who have been working for us for several years. If you can help in any way so that we can carve out of this hole, we would be forever grateful.
Thank you to our community for supporting us through trying times during covid, for making our greatest sales year in 2019 breaking our own records and for continuing to love not only us but our employees and we have grown almost like family.
We are sad to say this goodbye.
