Help us complete the Pumptrack Park for Vashon!

In 2017 Rjs Kids was requested by young adults living in the community to assist in fundraising for the building of additional outdoor facilities at the BARC. The VPD did not have immediate plans for improvements. As a non-profit committed to supporting the underserved residents of Vashon, Rjs Kids recognized the opportunity to help and agreed to apply for grants and administer the project to completion. As part of the grant process, community engagement is required to identify the need.

Since then, we have turned that dream into a reality with the creation of the Pumptrack at the B.A.R.C (Burton Adventure Recreation Center) with the help of supporters of all sizes.

As we are completing the project this summer, we are reaching out for help with some final touches to be able to finalize the park permits and hold our grand opening.

Currently, additional skate features are not installed due to increased construction costs for the completion required for permit close out. We are hoping to get assistance from our community to make this possible.

We added features not originally planned; cornholes, benches and the bouldering wall. We want to add shade features and additional seating based on all the observed activity at the BARC.

Additional Features we are fundraising for:

#1: Sail Shades for Chess/Checkers Stations.

$2,300.00 for each one, installed:

Total - $4,600.

#2: Shade umbrellas for three picnic tables.

$850.00 total for three.

#3: Additional two-top picnic table in red.

$2,500.00, installed.

#4 through #7: $25,000 for four additional features.

#8: Four donated basalt slabs for benches. Labor for delivery, footings and installation. $4,000.00
