Help Us Cover Vet Costs for 5 Neglected Dogs
Donation protected
Thank you for taking your time to read this,
After a series of really tragically unfortunate events, I will leave details out due to client confidentiality, two of my coworkers and I were in possession of 5 grossly neglected dogs. A mama dog, and 4 puppies. After exhausting emergency resources, animal control, humane society, shelters, and law enforcement, we found a veterinary hospital that would assess the animals in hopes of placing them in a rescue. It was devastating to find out that the puppies were Parvo positive, which resulted in the rescue being unable to take them.
After 5+ hours of working with the various resources, networking with big and small rescue organizations, and the veterinary hospital pulling ALL the stops, making personal contacts, and sending out all the Hail Mary's, miraculously the dogs were placed with an organization that was able to provide overnight veterinary services, ongoing medication administration, and most importantly, love and care.
In the midst of this journey, my coworkers and I were the only party available to cover financial responsibility of the vet assessment and parvo testing.
The veterinary hospital was gracious enough to remove 2 of 5 vet assessment fees, and only included 2 parvo tests on the invoice.
These angels at this veterinary hospital were so empathic and compassionate to 3 adults that work closely with highly traumatized, at risk youth, even with that experience, we were in absolute shambles trying to navigate this crisis.
We are all major proponents of advocacy and justice, therefore I think it's important to address the topics that we are continuing to address. The list includes lack of resources around emergency resources for neglected and abused animals, how law enforcement and animal control services can intervene and assist.
ABSOLUTELY ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO REIMBURSEMENT OF THE VETERINARY PAYMENT.
If you know Sheila or I personally and would rather donate via venmo or another form, please let us know. We will close the fundraiser as soon as the funds are recouped.
I will include a breakdown of the invoice:
Comprehensive physical exam (3)- $174.00
I/H Canine Parvo Test (2)- $274.86
Biohazard Fee (2)- $11.78
Total: $460.64
*I have included 5% to cover GoFundMe fees, if folks contribute outside of GoFundMe I will remove the post prior to reaching the total.
