Help us create a Disability friendly park
Since 2019 we have had the ambition to create a play park that provides play
facilities that aren't just suitable for able-bodied children but also those with
physical disabilities and extra needs.
There are a number of play parks in the local area, but none offer the facilities that
can enrich play experiences for children with extra physical or mental needs.
The park here at Almondsbury Recreation ground has definitely seen better days and is over 30 years old! It no longer serves the purpose of enriching children's
play experiences.
We want to create a park that provides play equipment that is accessible to all,
whilst also having sensory play at the heart of the scheme.
Over the past few years we have applied for many grants and written to lots of
companies but have so far not been able to raise the funds we need. We did get
to the final stage of funding with the National Lottery but unfortunately they
chose a scheme by a local council that would have completed their project
anyway.
We know times are difficult for a lot of us, and we're all facing pressures like
never before. However, we really feel this is a worthy cause and are hoping that if a lot of people donate a little we can reach our goal! We will continue to apply
for grants to hopefully boost what we raise.
Also, if you own or work for a company that would like to help, and get naming
rights or on-site advertising, let us know!
Thanks for reading & hopefully we'll see you soon.
