Help us empower 46 Afghan girls with laptops
Tax deductible
The Problem:
Most Afghan families are poor, and with women unable to work, households are now surviving on the single income of men, who typically earn an average of $0.57 per hour. Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world outside Africa. Despite these challenges, our students persevere. Currently, 90% of our students rely on smartphones, which are inadequate for the demands of our program.
Our Project: 46 Laptops for Our Mentees
We need your help to provide laptops for the 46 girls currently enrolled in our mentoring program. These girls have already completed our Advanced English Program and are now working with international mentors to prepare for further education, scholarships, and remote work. A laptop is essential for their success.
We’ve sourced durable Dell laptops that will last at least 10 years.
The cost breakdown is as follows:
$380 per laptop
10% shipping and delivery fee ($38)
Total: $418 per laptop
We are raising $19,228 to purchase and deliver 46 laptops directly to the girls’ homes. Your donation will give these girls the tools they need to improve their lives and create a brighter future.
How You Can Help
Donate: Every dollar counts! Your contribution will help us buy and deliver these laptops.
Share: Spread the word about our campaign to friends, family, and colleagues.
Volunteer: We’re always looking for English teachers and mentors to join our team. If you’re interested, please reach out at [email redacted].
Logistics
The laptops will be purchased in Dubai and delivered to our team member in Kabul, who will then courier each laptop to our mentees in different cities, delivering them to their doors. Once a girl receives her laptop, she’ll send a thank-you note that we’ll share on our Instagram and other social media pages. As funds come in, we’ll purchase laptops in batches, allowing some girls to get started as soon as possible.
In total, 46 girls will eventually upload their thank-you notes and photos to our Instagram.
What We Do:
- We provide 6 levels of English education, from beginner to advanced.
- We then offer four semesters of mentoring to support our students:
- Access further education online at international high schools or universities,
- Apply for scholarships and study at universities abroad, and
- Gain remote, paid work opportunities with foreign companies.
At Victory Afghanistan, we are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing English lessons and mentoring to girls and women in Afghanistan. Our mission is simple but powerful: to create an educational bridge for Afghan girls and women who are otherwise denied access to learning and opportunity.
Since the political regime in Afghanistan changed drastically in September 2021, girls have been banned from high school, university, and public life, leaving them trapped in their homes with little hope for the future. Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has described this heartbreaking situation as gender apartheid.
Our organization was founded by four Afghan women determined to bring education and opportunity back into the lives of Afghan girls. In just a year and a half, we’ve grown into a volunteer-driven organization with over 82 English teachers, 8 mentors, and 8 backroom staff, none of whom are paid and all of whom have full-time day jobs.
As an organization, we have received no funding to date. Together, we are making a difference for 1012 students, ranging in age from 11 to 40 years old.
