Help Us Preserve Our K–8 Programs!
For more than 50 years, Ocean Shore School has offered a unique K–8 educational experience, fostering close-knit communities, hands-on learning opportunities, and a smooth transition from elementary to middle school—all under one roof. Recently, however, the Pacifica School District Board voted on changes that will significantly reduce these longstanding K–8 offerings. This leaves our district with 1 single K-8.
Why This Matters
- Educational Continuity: K–8 schools help students build confidence and leadership skills as they grow alongside familiar peers and teachers.
- Community Collaboration: Ocean Shore emphasizes volunteerism, project-based learning, and multi-grade mentorships—all of which foster a strong, supportive network for students and families.
- Student-Centered Learning: The K–8 model supports individual learning styles, offering an environment in which children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
While the Board’s decision alters these programs, many parents, educators, and community members believe these K–8 options remain valuable for Pacifica families—and should be preserved or re-created in some form.

We seek to safeguard the strengths of these K–8 programs and ensure families continue to have access to them. We feel it’s important to advocate for a model that has proven successful for countless students.

If we cannot maintain the K–8 model within the district setting, we are considering the formation of a charter school that would embrace the same collaborative, community-driven spirit.
