Help Us Fight for Our K-8 Future!

The Pacifica School District Board has voted to dismantle Ocean Shore and Vallemar School’s beloved K–8 programs—splitting our students and uprooting a community-driven educational model that’s enriched countless families for over 50 years. This leaves our district with 1 single K-8.

But this fight is far from over. We are fighting against an unfair school district that is secretive, rushed and fiscally irresponsible! We’re taking legal action to challenge this decision, and we need your help.

Why This Matters

The K-8 programs in Pacifica are strong academic programs, chosen by families with children who thrive in a smaller setting. Reducing the K-8 offerings to a single K-8 in the South end of town removes an important choice many kids need in the district. It will leave only a large environment at IBL for those unable to get into the smaller Cabrillo K-8 school.

Vallemar School has been a beacon of excellence in our district, offering the unique K-8 educational model that so many families value and rely upon. This model fosters continuity, leadership, and a sense of belonging for students as they transition from elementary to middle school—all within a supportive and familiar environment.

Ocean Shore, formerly the Alternative School, isn’t just a school—it’s a thriving community. Students from different grades collaborate in a unique K–8 setting, forging mentorships and friendships that last well beyond graduation. The project based learning and field trips support their education by involving the children - which has been proven to lead to true learning. Losing this program means losing a distinct learning environment that encourages creativity, leadership, and close-knit family engagement.

Again, we are fighting against an unfair school district that is secretive, rushed and fiscally irresponsible!

⚖️ How Your Donation Helps ⚖️

a. Legal Defense: Your contributions will help cover our legal costs to reverse the Board’s closure decision affecting the K-8 choices we've had in Pacifica for years. Both Ocean Shore and Vallemar K-8 programs are being removed despite them being the school gems of this district.

b. Alternative Path (Charter School): If we are ultimately unable to save our K-8 through legal means, any remaining or additional funds may be used toward the formation of a charter school, ensuring the spirit and values of the dismantled K-8 schools. It is our hope to have it up and running by this fall so there is continuity for the next school year.
