Hi I'm Natalie founder of Poppy & Peonies,
My heart broke last week when I learned that our local food bank was on the verge of closing their doors due lack of donations and a food shortage. I started to call around to other food banks to learn they were in the same position.
Many food banks have had to close their doors because they’re out of supplies, or because they rely on donations from churches that are now temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Many vulnerable members of our community, including single mothers, children, and the elderly, rely on food banks for their meals.
The truth is we're all scared right now – even those of us with fully stocked fridges, roofs over our heads, and warm beds to sleep in. Now, put yourself in the shoes of a single mom who doesn’t know how she’s going to feed her kids because the food bank is totally depleted. Terrifying, right?
Along with our team we’ve launched a "Fill the Bag" campaign across Canada to raise money for food banks who are most affected by this crisis. Your donations will be used to help feed the most vulnerable members of our community.
