Help Us Find a New Home After Hurricane Milton

We thought we'd found a home we'd stay in for years, and thankfully, we made it through Hurricane Milton with little damage

But after only 11 months, the landlord notified us that he won't be able to renew our lease. His homeowner's insurance policy was recently canceled, and he's unable to find a new carrier. Add to that, Hurricane Milton came through and caused damage to his other properties.

He offered to sell us the townhouse, but we're not in a position to put a down payment on a home. We're not in a position to do anything involving Big Cash Commitments. Including moving.

Yet, that's exactly what we have 45 days to accomplish. We have to find a new place to live, get all of our deposits in order, get moving boxes, a moving truck... all by 11/30/24.

We are, sadly, the typical 'one paycheck away from disaster' family. It's just me and my son, but he's been unable to find a job since we moved here last December. Hurricane Milton wiped us out, forcing us to dip into what little cash we had available simply to eat.

On top of this, I work from home. So if we lose our home, we lose the one income we have.

Our primary goal is to simply find a new place to live. Our 'stretch goal' is to get out of Florida and away from hurricanes altogether.
