Help us find Brigitte on Samos

It’s the fifth day, and my mother is still missing.

I want to thank everyone for donating money and/or has supported me with kind words. The number of people thinking about my mom and supporting us as we are trying to cope with this nightmare is unfathomable. I'm deeply touched.

I am currently on Samos with two friends, and have a group of friends in The Netherlands who are supporting me day and night by trying to put everything into work to find her. The Greek authorities and (local) rescue teams have been a tremendous help, but the reality is that there is still no trace of my mother. That's why we have decided to bring in additional help from the Netherlands.

I am completely devastated by this horrific nightmare, and it feels like any wrong decision I make could have life-or-death consequences. And whilst I’m deeply moved by the overwhelming amount of support we are receiving—people who are offering support financially and emotionally, the rescue teams that are looking for my mother in 38 degrees heat—every other day is one too many, and the tension is unbearable.

Right now, I just want to find my mother so that this nerve-wrecking search can finally come to an end.

My mother, Brigitte, is missing.

Since yesterday morning (August 22, 2024) she has been missing on the island of Samos, Greece, where she was on a holiday with a close friend.

She went for a walk but never returned, and was last seen at the Tunnel of Eupalinos.

The local authorities have been alerted, and a search operation is currently ongoing. But she is 65 years old, it is currently extremely hot on Samos, and time is running out.

The authorities are involved, but we need funds to enlist additional help to find her as quickly as possible.

We have found a Dutch organization that can assist us with drones and rescue dogs, and we need all the help we can get to raise the necessary funds.

We are doing everything we can to find her alive, and I appreciate any support during this nerve-wrecking time. We're trying to keep hope, please help find my mother!
