Help us find our son and brother Dries De Graeve

Dear family, friends and anyone with a warm heart,

My name is Margalie.

It is with pain in my heart that I write this message.

My son, Dries, has disappeared without a trace since the night of November 18 to November 19 after a night camping while on vacation in Taghazout with two girlfriends. The night he disappeared he was confused and agitated. It is higly likely that he’s suffering from a psychosis. Therefore his disappearance is alarming and is it important that he is found as soon as possible so he can get the proper medication.

Dries is a fun, active and easy going man. He has a large group of friends that all treasure him dearly. He is the best uncle to his niece Ellie who just turned two. She would bring him a (pretend) cup of coffee that he drinks while making silly faces.

Dries likes to socialize, meet new people and do new things. He was looking forward to his stay in Morocco and could not stop talking about it. They planned numerous citytrips and fun activities to learn the culture of this beautiful country.

He shares a special bond with his grandmother. During the vacation Dries constantly send her little updates on what they were doing and where they were staying untill he suddenly stopped.

Together with my daughters, I traveled to Morocco to search with police forces and the local community. My oldest daughter will be here for as long as necessary to continue the search.

The Moroccan community is showing incredible solidarity and compassion. We are deeply touched by their commitment and support. In particular, I would like to thank Mohammed and Abdu, who even closed their stores to invest all their time in the search for Dries. Their unconditional help gives us hope in these dark times.

Why this GoFundMe?

While the support during this search is great, it also comes at a cost. The money raised will be used for:

- Printing and distributing flyers to mobilize everyone in the area.

* Supporting the locals and gendarmerie, so that they remain motivated to join the search for Dries.

- The accommodation expenses of my daughter, who will stay here to continue the search as long as necessary.

* We continue to hope for a positive outcome but we have to consider all possible scenarios. Should it be necessary, the money will be used for the repatriation of the body. Repatriating a body from Morocco can cost between €3,500 and €7,000.

- Support for Mohammed and Abdu, in gratitude for their selfless help. Part of this GoFundMe will go to them, compensating them for the time and income they sacrificed to help us.
