Successful "Maji ni Uhai" (Water is Life) Project

Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School in Moshi, Tanzania, recently embarked on a life-changing project, "Maji ni Uhai" (Swahili for "Water is Life"), to provide clean, accessible water for our students and the surrounding community.
The current water shortage poses tremendous hardship for a school that serves disadvantaged and disabled children, along with a staff and student population living in dormitories on campus and relying on food they grow in vegetable gardens.
Following a visit from a team led by Dr. Gianmarco Masoni, a US educator, that enabled careful documentation of the water shortage problem and its impact (see video below), we drafted a letter seeking support and subsequently received generous donations from big-hearted individuals and a civic-minded company, Custom Pipe and Fabrication, to drill a new borehole well.
The students were in awe when they witnessed the massive drill punching a hole deep into the ground and striking H20 gold!
The drillers discovered a vast reserve of water, exceeding any previous findings in the area.
Unfortunately, during the drilling process, we encountered a challenge at the 65-meter mark.
Loose gravel and sand from a weak rock formation began pouring into the borehole, making it impossible to install the planned PVC pipes and water pump, as it would pose a significant risk of damage. Our contractor attempted to seal the area with cement, but this proved ineffective.
The solution is to employ metal casings, instead of PVC. By using 65 meters of 4.5 mm hard metal pipes we will be able stabilize the borehole and safely install the pump, finally delivering the water our school and community desperately need.
The additional cost for acquiring these metal pipes amounts to approximately 12,100,000 TZS (equivalent to close to 4,750 USD).
While this represents an unexpected expense, it is crucial for ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the water drilling project.
This is where you come in!
We are reaching out to our global community to ask for your generous support. Every donation, big or small, will bring us closer to completing the "Maji ni Uhai" project and providing a sustainable water source for Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School.
With your help, we can turn this setback into a life-changing victory for our students and the entire community.
Please donate today and help us turn on the tap for a brighter future! All donations will be distributed to us through our amazing US-based nonprofit partner, Go Campaign.
