Help us fund our Nanay Leng's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
My Nanay (mother), Angelita “Nanay Leng” Manimbo, suffered from a heart attack on Saturday, March 13th and was advised to have an open heart bypass surgery (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting - CABG).
Not undergoing the surgery, the next heart attack can happen anytime and could be fatal.
Nanay Leng is not a permanent resident here in Canada and does not have an Ontario Health Care Plan (OHIP), her heart condition is not covered by insurance because it is a pre-existing condition.
One of my greatest fear is knowing that I can’t afford her needs . It wears me down, eats me up inside and soaks my pillow with tears at night…
Please help us, we are reaching out to all of our friends and family to try and help us raise the funds needed to help her.
Even if you can't spare any money, please spare us a moment and share our story in the hopes that other people might be able to help.

What happened to Nanay Leng?
*********************************************
My Nanay (mother), Angelita “Nanay Leng” Manimbo, experienced chest pain and difficulty breathing on Saturday, March 13th.
We rushed her to the hospital and was told that she had a heart attack. The ER doctor said that she is very ill and needed to be admitted.
She was later transferred to Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
Sunday March 14th, she was transferred to another hospital for angiogram as this will better assess the condition of her heart.
My hope that angioplasty would fix her heart was crushed when I was told by the cardiologist that bypass surgery will be the next best option.
Her heart has a lot of blockages and one of her arteries already hardened and obstructed by calcium, and so an open heart bypass surgery (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting - CABG) has to be performed.
Monday March 15th at 5AM I received a call from the hospital, her heart stopped for a minute while they were applying pressure on the bleeding incision made for the angiogram.
We were given an option to bring her home and not to have the CABG done as the drips and the meds stabilized her, but another heart attack can be fatal and that it can happen anytime.
I refused to take her home without knowing her heart can stop anytime… she wants to live long, long enough to see her great grandchildren, which she tells us all the time.
For all the hardships raising our family, I just cannot let go of her easily…

Who is Nanay Leng?
*********************************************
If you know my Nanay, then you must know that she is very kind & caring, warm-hearted & sincere, incredibly hard-working and brings fun & laughter to everyone she talks to.
She is an obedient daughter, who took care all of her younger siblings, finished only elementary school and was sent to work right away as a dress maker to help her family at the very young age.
A loyal wife to my father, who never left his side despite all the heartaches & tears…
A loving mother, who took care all of her 5 kids mostly by herself, she work day and night to make sure all of us don’t get hungry and get education.
A caring grandmother, who took care mostly all of her grandchildren. I have 5 boys who she took care the moment I gave birth, they are spoiled but filled with life lessons she never get tired of sharing.
A warrior of God, she has a very strong faith in God… at the time she was in ER catching her breath, she asked me why does she have to go through this ordeal, I told her that she is warrior of God.
God knows she is strong and courageous and can take on all the hardships, and will be stronger afterwards, and just keep on fighting.

My family arrived here in Canada in mid 2010 as a Permanent Resident (PR), and she followed in February 2011 as a tourist. She came back to Philippines a couple of times until she got the 10 years multiple entry to Canada.
It allows her to keep coming back here, and stay here longer by extending her status as a tourist. I was hoping to lodge her PR application in 2012 but Canada froze the Parent Sponsorship Program.
In January 2014, I lodged her application but it was returned to me in May 2016 (2 years later) as IRCC said they cannot recognize earnings I made in Singapore for 2010, we were all devastated …
I could have submitted her sponsorship application in 2015 or 2016 if only I received the rejection earlier. Since 2017, IRCC invites interested people to join via lottery but yearly luck is not on our side.
We love our Nanay so much… she taught us that being poor should not stop you from reaching your dreams, and taught us to help out friends and families in times of need without expecting something in return.
We cannot thank you enough for taking time to read this message, and thank you for all the prayers, love and support.
