Help us fund the 8th grade trip to Camp Tecumseh!

My name is Greg Fairbank. I am a middle school teacher at Carl von Linne Elementary in the Chicago Public Schools. We are a pre-k to 8th grade Spanish bilingual school in the Avondale neighborhood.

To end the school year with a fun, memorable and community-building experience, my 8th grade students will be going to an overnight YMCA camp called Camp Tecumseh. It is located in Indiana about 2.5 hours from our school. On this trip, they will do team-building activities, sleep in cabins, enjoy the beauty of nature, and have a campfire. These are things many of these Chicago teens have never had the opportunity to do--until now!

But we need your support.

The total camp and bus fee is $115 per student (or $4575 total, with the assumption that 40 students will go). This is quite expensive for many of our families, as we are a Title I school (this is a government designation meaning we are a school with a majority low-income community). That said, your donation will really mean a lot to my students and their families.

This fundraiser is not meant to fund all students in going, but to lessen the burden on as many families as possible. In addition to this fundraiser, my students will be participating in fundraisers within our school community (a car wash, and selling flowers for Mother's Day). Every donation makes a difference, even just a few bucks.

Covid cancelled all field trips for about two years, and I would like to give my students a warm memory as they close this chapter at Linne Elementary. Thank you for your consideration in donating. My kids and I really appreciate it!
