Support International Students with work permit Fighting for Justice
We are a group of Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) holders, who have been sitting in a 24/7 encampment, protesting against the exploitation we’ve faced in Canada.
After being lured with the promise of a bright future, we paid exorbitant tuition fees to colleges that turned out to be nothing more than diploma mills. These institutions, many now shut down by the government, made millions over the course of 7 years, leaving us with poor quality education, overwhelming debt, and a sense of betrayal.
Why We’re Protesting:
Canada has long marketed itself as a land of opportunity for international students, enticing us with slogans like “Study, Work, and Stay” on government websites. However, behind these promises there is a system ripe for exploitation. Canadian colleges partnered with unscrupulous agents, offering them high commissions to recruit students under false pretenses. Students were funneled into low-quality courses like tourism and business, with promises of good jobs and pathways to permanent residency — promises that have largely gone unfulfilled.
Many of us have been caught in a system that is designed to make colleges rich, while leaving international students in a difficult situation. With no immigration draws for two years 2022 & 2023 and policies like upper cap limiting the access of eligible candidates to Provincial Nomination Programs, our chances for fair opportunities for getting Permanent Residency got vanished.
Our Demands:
We are calling for:
• Fair and transparent immigration pathways.
• Extensions of work permits for PGWP holders either expired or expiring in 2024 and 2025.
• An end to LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) exploitation.
• A 5-year open work permit for international students to give us a real chance at success.
Why We Need Your Support:
Several of us have left our jobs to maintain this 24/7 encampment. We are committed to staying until our voices are heard and our demands are met. However, we need the community’s support to continue this fight. Funds raised will go towards:
• Langar (community meals) to ensure that no protester goes hungry.
• Support for students who have sacrificed their livelihoods to participate in the encampment.
• Legal help in case we need to file a lawsuit.
This movement is about more than just our fight
. It’s about fighting for fair treatment, ethical policies, and the end of exploitation. We stand for justice, and with your support, we can continue this fight until real change is made.
Please contribute what you can and share this campaign with others. Together, we can create a fairer future for all international students in Canada.
Thank you for your support
