Help us get Black children into theatres!
Donation protected
Hello! I'm Hannah, an Black actor from London. I've recently started my own initiative to help get Black children, ages 0-14, into theatres by offering them free tickets.
Since graduating from drama school, I have worked predominantly in children's theatres and I noticed a huge lack of diversity in their audiences. Of course, theatres have their own means of outreach and trying to make their work and audiences more inclusive, but we still have a long way to go. I don't have all the answers as I'm still very early in my career, however, I believe that removing the financial barrier to accessing tickets is a step in the right direction.
I have been speaking with a few gatekeepers of Children's theatre and they are in fully support of this initiative and are keep help me along the way. The money I am raising is solely to cover the costs of theatre tickets for both children and their parents/carers/guardians.
An average ticket costs approximately £20 (estimation made from tickets prices at Polka Theatre, Unicorn, Theatre and Tall Stories). The cost for a family of 4 would be £80, thus £3000 would get at least 37 Black families tickets to watch a show at a theatre.
Any donation will be appreciated and please do spread the word!

Thank you so much!
