Help us Get Joan's Car Back to Her!

Our beloved friend, Joan, in Phoenix, AZ, is 87 now and has been driving her 25-year-old Toyota around town in the 110-degree heat. On Tuesday, 8/1, she took it to the mechanic she’s been taking it to for 20 years for its regular six-month checkup and discovered this time it needs a $2800 overhaul and “…it will be just like new.” After 20 years of working with him, Joan trusts her mechanic. and checking around, she's discovered others agree it would cost much more to get a used car in as good condition. So she's proceeding with the repairs.

Some of you know that Joan was an international volunteer with the Institute of Cultural Affairs for 30 years, so she doesn’t have much retirement income for this kind of emergency.
