Please help us get our fur babies home

I thought I should update our story due to our cats circumstances changing as more information surfaces.
So, as many of you know, I was diagnosed on the 29th of March with invasive DCIS breast cancer. I was told by my doctor on the 30th to leave Cambodia ASAP as I could not get the treatment I needed there due to corona virus complications, so on the 31st I had packed up my home and flew back to England leaving my partner and 3 fur babies behind.
I never intended to ask for so much financial help as I had savings I thought would be enough to fly them all, oh how naïve I was.. I know these times are financially difficult for everyone, I started the fundraiser due to how desperate for help we are, and so far the help from all the amazing and generous people out there, has lifted a great amount of stress!
We ended up with the three cats because the stray cat situation in Cambodia seemed to have exploded in comparison to when we had lived there two years prior, and we both feel, as humans, we have the moral obligation to rehome the homeless, especially in a country where treatment of animals can be so cruel and brutal. So our little furry family is made up of Moni, Mani and Lucy.
Those who have moved animals from one country to another know of the complications and the costs (throw in a global pandemic for good measure adding on delays) and how much of a stressful process it can be for both humans and animals. The process so far has been long, confusing, complicated and difficult to say the least.
There has been recent news on our youngest cat, since being away it was discovered she has a heart murmur which is being controlled by medicine, vet visits & an incredibly caring foster mama. But now we have the update that she has a suspected diaphragmatic hernia. Both conditions she was born with.. They cannot do tests to discover if the hernia is for sure, as they don't have the equipment in Cambodia, she also cannot be operated on due to her heart murmur, neither in Cambodia or in the UK.
We have been told she cannot fly cargo, she MUST fly in-cabin with someone flying from Cambodia, and even then, this is a huge risk for her health.. they also cannot predict her life expectancy due to the hernia.
Lucy's situation is still being figured out, it may be that she waits until we know someone who can fly with her when or if she is healthy enough, or we decide to rehome her in Cambodia to live out her life there, as the stress of transporting her here may be too much for her little heart to handle
So!! Moni and Mani are awaiting their rabies titre tests ($200 each), which will take up to 2 months to get the results back from a lab in England (covid is complicating this, however I think it is almost back to normal) they need to wait 3 months from the day the blood has been taken, then they also need export certificates, medical certificates, and a third country certificate, before they can be booked onto their flights.
As it stands, Moni and Mani will definitely be flying as cargo to France then onwards to the UK towards the end of the year. Lucy is still to be confirmed.
We've been quoted $1700 per cat, not including their rabies shots ($30 each), rabies titre tests ($200), crates ($110) or any extra costs that may prop up (food, extra vet bills, etc). In total I think we are looking at about £3500. (That is not including Lucy in the prices, with Lucy included it could be £1500 extra)
Some people have questioned why we want to bring the three cats here to the UK. If you have animals you know the answer to this, they're our family and we want what is best for them.
I do have some savings put away in Cambodia already, this is why I thought I could afford it all myself, however, the cancer diagnosis (although medical care is free) appears to be a little bit more costly in regards to what I need to make life a little less uncomfortable during treatment, and as most of you know, I was forced to resign from my teaching job which was my only income, therefore I am expecting to eventually have to dip into those savings put aside for the cats.
James finding work is also not simple with the covid-19 situation. When I start chemotherapy, I will be very high risk to viruses, and we don't want to risk him integrating with people and bringing any infections back to where I am recovering.
As you can see it's all STILL a big complicated mess and we are trying our best to manage it all whilst managing everything else that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
We are INCREDIBLY grateful and thankful to all the amazing humans donating and sharing and making this possible!! I am blown away with the generosity, and how much we have managed to raise.
Big thank yous and cuddles
Sending all the love!!
