Help us give Alphie the Celebration of Life she deserves

Our beautiful, dynamic warrior, Alphie, died at home in Hull on 9th April 2025, after living with Huntington’s Disease for several years.

About Alphie

Always on a mission to make the world a better place, Alphie was a generous soul who never hesitated to help anyone in need. She lived life to the fullest, all the while knowing that her illness would one day catch up with her.

From starting as a veterinary nurse, to retraining as a specialist fitness instructor working for the University of Hull for 27 years, Alphie loved her work, helping patients with rehabilitation.

Aged just 18, Alphie became passionate about supporting environmental and animal causes, hitchhiking her way to the Women’s Peace Camp at Greenham Common in Berkshire to protest against the housing of American nuclear missiles at the RAF Greenham Common.

This led to a lifetime of powerful change-making activism, with Alphie becoming heavily involved in movements including Animal Liberation, Pride, Occupy Democracy, Stop the War, and anti-fracking.

Love

It was while campaigning against fracking that Alphie met her love and soul mate, George Brown, better known as Foxy. Alphie told Foxy that she “loved all things made in the 1940s” including him!

Alphie proposed to him, and they were married at 1pm on 1 December 2016 - a symbolic act of solidarity with Standing Rock, timed to align with coordinated events happening around the world. Instead of rings, they exchanged lock-on bracelets (if you know, you know!).

Standing out in a crowd with her bright, colourful outfits and long dreadlocks, Alphie’s vibrant personality shone just as boldly. She was loved by a wide circle of friends - her tribe - who were drawn to her kindness, spirit, and unmistakable presence.

Alphie’s life was a wild and love-filled ride – literally – taking part in the World Naked Bike Ride, Sea of Hull art installation, joining a cluster of powerful movements for change over the years, spreading her love and hope for a better world wherever she travelled.

Alphie leaves behind her cherished soul mate Foxy, but also a remarkable legacy of love, activism, and courage. Please donate to this GoFundMe if you are able. Funds will be used directly for a celebration service of Alphie’s life. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Huntington’s Disease Association – a charity that offered support to Alphie throughout her illness.

With love ❤️
