Help Us Honor the Life of Myron D. Spann

Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

Our dad, Myron D. Spann, was one of a kind. Born on March 23, 1960, he was an Army veteran, a proud father to me and my two sisters, and an incredible grandpa to his grandkids. He had a tough exterior—what we lovingly called his “mean mug”—but anyone who knew him could tell you he had the biggest heart.

He loved to grill, jam out to music (especially Snoop Dogg, his favorite artist—he even called himself “Mydogg”!), and sit on the porch with old-school tunes playing. He had a knack for making people laugh, usually by picking on us just enough to drive us crazy—his unique love language. He never missed a single moment in our lives: assemblies, birthdays, graduations, holidays—you name it, Dad was there, often cooking up something amazing for everyone to enjoy.

His passing on December 17th was sudden and devastating. That morning, he woke up full of energy, doing laundry and joking around, but by the afternoon, he had a medical emergency and couldn’t be revived. Losing him so unexpectedly has left us heartbroken. He was our best friend, our rock, and a constant in our lives.

Unfortunately, my dad wasn’t able to secure life insurance due to his medical history, and while the VA has offered some assistance, it will only cover a fraction of the costs. My sisters and I, both single mothers, have been doing everything we can to raise the funds ourselves, but we’re still far from what we need.

We’re humbly asking for your help to raise $5,500 so we can give him the funeral he deserves. Our deadline is January 2nd, and every donation, big or small, brings us closer to honoring his memory in a way that reflects the love and joy he brought into our lives.

Beyond just helping us, we hope to shed light on how difficult it is for elderly and disabled individuals to secure the dignity they deserve after passing. My dad was our hero, but his story could be anyone’s. No one should have to face this kind of worry while grieving.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting us in this difficult time.

With gratitude,
Charice Spann
