Help Us Give Our Beloved Mom a Proper Farewell

Purpose of this fundraiser:

Everyone who knows my mom knows how great of a person she is and we believe that she deserves respect and celebration of life. With that, we are in need of financial assistance to prepare for her final farewell. If you are also struggling financially, a prayer for my mom would be greatly appreciated. Anything left over will be used to help us transition.

Note: The service date is tentative. We don't know for sure but the doctor said it could happen at any time this week or even today so it's just to prepare.

A little bit about Maria Stella Yu:

After 8 years of trying to immigrate here in the US, my mom was finally able to in 2015. Despite being alone in this new and unfamiliar world, my mom stopped at nothing and conquered everything. Well, almost everything. There was this one evil thing that stopped her in her tracks. This evil thing causes great physical pain to those who have it but even those who don’t, still experience pain from their loved ones being taken by it. This evil thing, I speak of, is Cancer.

I always ask “Why my mom?”

But then I remember the quote “People always pick the prettiest flowers in the garden”.

And that’s when I understand, my mom was in fact an extraordinary person.

My mom single handedly raised me and my sister, gave us everything we needed even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness.

She was an excellent nurse, so excellent in fact, that she got an award from almost every hospital she was assigned to when she was a travel nurse. Not even cancer could stop her from being an excellent nurse because despite being on chemo and radiation, she fought through all the pain to continue giving excellent care to her patients.

She was also an excellent sibling and friend because she always put them before herself. She was selfless and was always willing to give even when she didn’t have much.

Ever since she was diagnosed in May of 2022 with Stage IV Cervical Cancer, she has been trying her best to fight it and even though my mother was stronger than hercules, she could not beat it. As of right now, her breathing is already shallow and we have been told that there are already signs of end of life. She only has a few days left so we are trying our best to prepare ourselves, one step at a time.
