Help us give Pepper a chance - FIP meds for Pepper
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
As some of you might have seen in my Facebook post last week, Duncan's 10-month old kitty Pepper has been diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). The diagnosis was "fatal” and we were advised to put Pepper down on Sunday by the vets. Duncan did bring Pepper home though so we could all say our last goodbyes.
That's when I started digging and found out about GS-441524, an "experimental" drug that actually cures FIP. Testing was done at the University of California-Davis and 83% of the cats tested were cured! What an incredible drug! Problem is that the GS medication for FIP is not available in the United States and to import the meds is extremely expensive with costs of about $250.00 per week. The course of treatment is 84 days, 12 weeks and we need to do blood tests along the way to determine whether or not Pepper is benefiting from the medication.
Time is of the essence with Pepper as FIP is a horrendous disease and the effects strike quick. She already has a terribly distended stomach and has difficulty breathing. Fortunately, she's been on antibiotics for a little while which may be slowing the disease.
Please help us get Pepper the medicine she needs to have a chance to fight this. If something should happen to Pepper along the way we will make sure either the medication or the money goes to others fighting the terrible disease.
