Help Us Give Shyla Flood a Beautiful Farewell

Shyla Flood unexpectedly passed away on Saturday September 14, 2024. I am creating this fundraiser to raise money for her funeral costs. I never imagined I’d be writing this so soon, she began her life again almost 3 years ago. We are devastated.

Shyla was the most special person to so many. She was a friend, a sister, daughter, confidant, sobriety role model, and most importantly, a mom. She overcame and survived so many obstacles and she was a survivor of so many things. It was such an incredible testimony to hear.

For several years, Shyla struggled to beat addiction and lost everything she loved in the process. This is how we met. I am whom Shyla considered, her baby mama. I laugh, but this is a true testament to how amazing and selfless this woman was, in sobriety. After I adopted Shyla’s youngest daughter Aleigh, I began a mission to know her. I needed to her to have a relationship with our daughter. After a 5 year battle with addiction, she DID IT. She finally claimed her life back.

I watched her go to every meeting, make strong sober connections, work her tail off at a job that she loved so very much, get her license back, buy her first car on her own, move into her first apartment, and move into her first home. Every one who loved her was so proud of her. I’m telling you, I cried with her on the phone every time she told me one of her accomplishments.

Our daughter, we shared, created this relationship that is unbreakable. We had another person who loved her unconditionally, along with me. It was incredible to watch both of them overcome trauma together, to break down walls, and to build a new bond that was made on trust and love. It was so beautiful.

We are raising money so that my daughter, her other children, her sisters and mom, her family and friends, can give her the funeral she deserves. I want to honor her and to give Aleigh and everyone who wishes, a peaceful place to visit her.
